Horsforth College was closed in June 2017 as it was earmarked for residential housing development. In 2021 planning consent was given to demolish the former college, which was situated on a 7.5-acre site and build 152 affordable homes.
The college was constructed from a lightweight steel frame with infill mass masonry brick walls, timber frames windows throughout with wood fibre Stravet board to roof with a felt finish.
Kayedem was appointed to carry out a full turnkey enabling package which consisted of the main demolition of the college, grubbing up and excavation of all former sub structures to the site, removal of all obstructions underground up to 1 meter in depth, crushing of all suitable materials to 6f2 aggregate and a to carry out the bulk earthworks consisting of a muck shift of 10,000m³.
